LATEST: BLACK SABBATH guitarist TONY IOMMI and JETHRO TULL frontman IAN ANDERSON have helped to save British radio station Planet Rock from closure.
The digital station faced being shut down last month (May08) unless parent company Gcap media found a suitable buyer.
Queen guitarist Brian May had expressed interest in purchasing the beleaguered station, but it was the group of music legends headed by Iommi and Anderson who were successful in the takeover bid.
The group, also including Irish session guitarist Gary Moore, joined rock fan Malcolm Bluemel in coming forward to save the station.
And Anderson insists they will be able to revive Planet Rock.
He says, "Onwards and upwards - from the threat of extinction to a fantastic future, with a little help from its friends.
"I am personally delighted that the show goes on, as it must, since our heritage of great British rock music is too important to see slip away from national radio."
T.I. has signed a new deal to film three movies, says the rapper.
The Atlanta star, who is currently serving community service, told MTV: "I have a few films that I am in the process of working on, as a producer as well as an actor. Some with Screen Gems, some with New Line, as well as a documentary in the form of a television series with MTV."
"I'm just looking forward to continuing my success in the film industry," T.I. continued. "I want to do all kinds of movies. I want to do romantic comedies, action movies, dramas tons of different things."
So far, just one movie has been named as 'Bone Deep', that will apparently see co-star roles from Matt Dillon and Idris Elba. T.I. described the film as a "young, Hip Hop 'Heat'".
'Bone Deep' is to be directed by John Luessenhop and was written by Gabriel Casseus, Avery Duff and Peter Allen.
